I am able to hold telephone sessions and on-line individual and group sessions during this Crisis time.
My goal is to work together with you to support you in becoming the person that you would like to be, to be able to function well in all areas of life and to develop healthy coping skills and build a life that will give you meaning.
The more I have worked with people the more I have realised that we all have wounds, worries and insecurities that we are ashamed of and hide from in many ways. Admitting that we need help can be hard and scary at times but in the end it is usually freeing and rewarding to face our fears and get support in making the changes we desire.
As an Occupational Therapist I am able to support people in understanding their challenges in performing their many life roles and teach them skills to overcome some of these challenges. I particularly enjoy working with clients to improve their communication skills, conflict management, helping people to understand and control their emotions and time and stress management skills. I am particularly passionate about teaching people to set and maintain boundaries with both themselves and others.
I have 10 years’ experience working with clients in psychiatric settings who are battling depression, anxiety and other mood disorders or struggling with mental health challenges. I enjoy working with people adults of all ages and cultures and find my job meaningful and fulfilling. I completed a research masters in Occupational Therapy with a focus on group work and how it changes patients relationships in the real world.
I also have experience in paediatrics and have worked extensively with learning disabled children. I completed my sensory integration training with children and am fascinated in how sensory integration challenges impact on patient’s mental health.
I am married and have two energetic, and special sons who have helped to teach me many life lessons.
I invite you to contact me to work together to build a life worth living.
