Samantha Crawford
Occupational Therapist
Akeso Alberton
I completed my Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy at the University of the Witwatersrand, after which I completed my community service year at Bertha Gxowa Community Clinic.
I have worked at Akeso Alberton since 2014 and am currently the Senior Occupational Therapist.
My areas of interest include both group and individual therapy and I am passionate about mental health within the adult and geriatric population.
I have undergone further training in functional assessments using the Psychiatric Functional Capacity Evaluator Tool developed by Karen Theunissen and the Activities Performance Outcomes Measure (APOM). The APOM was developed by Dr Daleen Casteleijn which is based on Vona Du Toit’s Levels of Creative Ability.
I have also undergone further training with regards to evidence-based practices such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and base my therapy on a client-centred approach.
I am currently completing my Sensory Intelligence training by Dr Annamarie Lombard which will enable me to use the Sensory Matrix profile as a therapeutic means for clients.
