Akeso Randburg – Crescent Clinic
I am an Occupational Therapist who has always had an interest in Psychiatry.
I qualified from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1997 with a BSc (OT). After graduating I worked in Government facilities for 8 ½ years before moving into the private sector in 1996. I initially worked at Sterkfontein Hospital and then moved to Tara, The H. Moross Centre where I was exposed to many different psychiatric diagnoses, namely Mood Disorders, Personality Disorders, Anxiety Disorders and many more.
I worked in Independent Private Practice for 2 years before joining Crescent Clinic which later became Akeso Clinic Randburg, where I have continued to work until the present. I have continued to see patients in my own private capacity as well as manage the therapeutic resources at the clinic. Over the years I have developed a special interest in Addiction and Eating Disorders.
I have also worked extensively with students from the University of the Witwatersrand as a clinical supervisor and continue to enjoy imparting the knowledge I have gained to them.
It has been a very interesting journey, not without its challenges and feel that I have grown as an individual and as a therapist because of this. I have firm boundaries which have assisted me in maintaining good relationships with patients and staff alike.
