Elfie du Toit
My name is Elfreda Elizabeth (Elfie) du Toit. I am enthusiastic and creative Occupational Therapist, registered with the Board of Healthcare Funders, and the Health Professional’s Council of South Africa. My passion is to work in the psychiatric field of Occupational Therapy.
I am a firm believer that therapy should focus on the individuality of each client involved. I connect well with my clients and believe that professional and empathetic relationships contribute immensely to successful treatment.
In 2011, I graduated from the University of the Free State (UFS) and completed my community service year at the end of December 2012, at National District Hospital in Bloemfontein.
I run group therapy sessions, offers individual treatment sessions, and carry out a variety of assessments. I am APOM (Activity Participation Outcome Measure) and FCE (Psychiatric Functional Capacity Evaluation) trained and have a special interest in assessing and treating patients with job-related stressors, a lack of structure and routine, interpersonal difficulties, emotional dysregulation, and addiction challenges.
I am passionate about skills-based group therapy and the meaningful application of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I believe in a holistic approach and that each patient should be treated according to their unique and individual needs, with the aim to enhance their functioning and quality of life.
I am fluent in English and Afrikaans and have experience working with clients of all ages.
