Experience
I completed my second year of Masters/internship year at Fort England Psychiatric Hospital. In addition to seeing outpatients (both adults and children) with varying presenting problems and diagnoses, one of my four rotations was in the substance abuse ward. During my time there, I was part of several intensive 3-week rehabilitation programmes, in which I facilitated substance abuse groups focusing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy theory surrounding addiction, Motivational Enhancement Therapy and trigger work, as well as open group therapy groups and family sessions. Finally, during my community service year at Pollsmoor Prison I also conducted numerous substance abuse groups based, again drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy theory surrounding addiction, Motivational Enhancement Therapy and trigger work.
