Ayanda Sibisi
Occupational Therapist
Akeso Pietermaritzburg
Born and raised in the city of Durban, I found my calling in Occupational Therapy. After qualifying from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal in 2011, I have had the pleasure of working in public sector institutions. It was here that I got to explore assessing and treating patients with various physical conditions including cerebrovascular accidents, traumatic brain injuries, hand injuries, cerebral palsy as well as high risk infants.
After settling in Pietermaritzburg, I easily transitioned into becoming a psych OT and boy oh boy, there is never a dull moment! I am passionate about group therapy and equipping individuals of all ages and ethnic groups with coping skills for the stressors of life.
I continuously seek ways of upgrading my skills as a therapist and am Ergoscience trained to perform physical functional capacity evaluations as well as psychiatric functional capacity evaluations. I believe that I can continue developing myself to the highest level of personal achievement thereby delivering superior occupational therapy services.
Languages
I’m able to provide therapy in English, IsiZulu and other Nguni languages.
