Ashleigh Louw
Occupational Therapist
Akeso Alberton
I completed my Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy degree at the University of Witwatersrand in 2017. I then completed my community service year at the Far East Rand Hospital. Following this, I went on to further my skills in mental health while working in a chronic mental health facility where I ran the occupational therapy department that offered services to inpatients with conditions such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar mood disorder and intellectual disabilities.
I am currently working at Akeso Alberton, as the group occupational therapist on the dual-diagnosis unit (DDU) programme. In addition to this, I also oversee the treatment of the low functioning patients within the facility.
I am passionate about mental health, with special interest in substance use disorders and the integrated treatment of dual diagnoses.
